XIII International Symposium on Explosive Production of New Materials: Science, Technology, Business, and Innovations (EPNM-2016) – Coimbra / Portugal
The symposium was held in Coimbra, Portugal, on 20-25.06.2016 and was organized by: Institute of Structural Macrokinetics and Materials Science, Russian Academy of Sciences (ISMAN, Russia) together with Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal) as part of the Department’s support Chemistry and New Materials, Russian Academy of Sciences. The main idea of the symposium, which dates back to the 70s of the last century, is to exchange experiences and willingness to share new or updated areas of application of explosion technology in the production of a wide range of products, from clad elements used in various industries, to compacting nano-powders.
The symposium gathered nearly 80 people from around the world, both from the world of business and science, including Russia, Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Armenia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Georgia, the United States, Japan, Romania, China, Iceland, Slovakia and Great Britain. The conference language was English.
The symposium in Portugal was a meeting place for many scientists and industry people using conventional explosion energy in their research and / or manufacturing activities. Interesting papers and topics were presented, which aroused great interest of people from other institutes and companies whose research or activity overlapped or was close to the topic currently being discussed. The symposium also made it possible to make new contacts and continue existing ones that may have an impact on the further development of technology or research on new technical solutions and products.
Explomet actively participated in the conference. In total 6 oral presentations were prepared basis of the results of research on clad materials produced by our company. The researches were carried out as part of two external projects and one own project. 2 presentations were presented by Explomet employees, 4 others by representatives of research and development centers cooperating with us.
